Shahbaz want to rain cash compensation for flood affectees

*CM orders authorities to ensure complete payment of first instalment to flood-hit before Eid

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has directed the authorities to ensure payment of first instalment of financial assistance to the flood affectees before Eid.

Chairing a meeting of the Punjab Cabinet Committee on Flood Relief in the provincial capital, he said flood victims are being compensated for their losses within days of the tragedy and not in months.

He said the losses caused to crops, houses and livestock would be compensated on the basis of a transparent survey. He said financial assistance would also be provided to those who have lost their means of livelihood.

The chief minister directed the committee to visit Jhang, Muzaffargarh and Multan to review the process of payment.

Shahbaz said special bonus would be given to the staff working during holidays.

Provincial Disaster Management Authority director general briefed the meeting about the process of disbursement of financial assistance among the flood-hit people.

PUNJAB GOVT DISTRIBUTES OVER RS 1.5B AMONG FLOOD VICTIMS:

Punjab government has distributed more than 1.5 billion rupees as amount among the flood affected people in the province over the last three days.

Government spokesman Syed Zaeem Qadri said on Sunday that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is busy in helping out the flood victims day and night.

Commenting on a statement of the Punjab Assembly Opposition Leader and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Mian Mehmoodur Rashid, he said the PTI left flood affected people alone, like they did with internally displaced persons (IDPs).

He said how can a party, which is spending its time in sit-ins and music shows, talk about the flood affected people.
