Senior leadership of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has conveyed to the federal government its message of launching protests across the country on ‘unjustified’ arrests of their workers during the ongoing targeted operation in Karachi.
Sources said that the leadership of MQM had informed the political coordinator of federal government that pace of operation had been intensified against the party in Karachi and unjustified raids had been conducted on residences of their workers and many of them had been shifted to unidentified places.
Despite these arrests, the MQM had adopted the policy of tolerance and it was not using the option of protests keeping in view the prevailing situation in the country, the sources added. The charity of MQM Khidmat-i-Kalq Foundation would face difficulties in collecting animal hides on Eid-ul-Azha therefore the federal government should take the notice of this situation and stop massive arrests of the party workers, they demanded.
Governor Dr Ishrat-ul-Ibad and top MQM circles had difference with the federal government on the issue of arrests; however, he (Ibad) was continuously in contact with senior officials, the sources added. Presently, the governor is on foreign visit but he will reach back soon and all the problems are likely to be resolved after his arrival.
The MQM sources said if the government did not pay heed to the current situation and resolve the reservations of the party, they would adopt the way of protests across the country besides Karachi.
