The trend of arranging barbecue parties on Eidul Azha has taken flight for last few years, where relatives and friends are invited to have fun and enjoy delicious cuisines prepared from sacrificial meat.
“These parties give us an opportunity to spend time with our families, relatives and friends,” said Ahad Junaid, a senior bank official, who arranges barbecue parties at Eidul Azha.
Meanwhile, vendors have established stalls at markets and near cattle markets selling `Ingithi’ (coal stove), grills, iron bars, etc. while blacksmiths have also put kinves, choppers and other equipment on sale. The people are also seen getting their existing cutlery sharpened.
Zahid Aslam, who was buying knives from a blacksmith Thursday, said, “People do not like traditional dishes like Qorma, Baryani, Polao etc on Eid. Barbecue is the best way to eat sacrificial meat and enjoy the festivity with our near and dear ones.”
He said, “I can cut meat with these choppers so that it can be easily grilled.”
Zainab Fatima, a house wife said, “I used to make qorma and baryani on Eid but my kids refused to eat the same. Therefore, I roast meat in different ways, which is liked by them.” She said they would invite all their family members on third day of Eid and arrange a huge party, because in their company her children would enjoy the dishes.
