10 dead, five injured in violence

As many as five people were killed and five injured in violence while five tortured bodies were recovered from various areas in the city on Thursday.

Three alleged criminals were killed in an encounter with Rangers in Lyari Chakiwara area.

The Station House Officer (SHO), police station Chakiwara, informed that an encounter took place between Rangers and criminals of Lyari Gang War at Adam Tea Bus Stop, Chakiwara. Resultantly, three criminals of Lyari gang war namely Singo alias Mohammad Hanif, 35, son of Mir Mohammad, Mohammad Shahid, 35, son of Abdul Rehman, and Sunny, alias Jamal, 25, son of Jamil Ahmed, were killed.

However, three pistols (30 bore) were recovered from their possession. The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for autopsy. In another encounter, an accused Asif, 30, son of Lal Bux, was arrested in injured condition near Farooq-e-Azam Masjid, North Nazimabad, and was shifted to hospital. Later, he succumbed to injuries. However, police recovered one TT pistol and two rounds from his possession.

In another incident, a teenager Rafiq, 18, son of Sajid, was gunned down by unidentified armed men near Saifi Lane. The body was shifted to CHK for medico-formalities.

Ittehad Town police station informed that a body of an unknown person aged about 25 was found in a gunny bag near Abu-Hurera Madarsa and was shifted to CHK for an autopsy. The deceased might have been stabbed to death by unknown accused at some other place and his body was dumped here, the police said.

In yet another incident, police found a tortured body aged about 40 near Masko Company, Ibrahim Hyderi. The body was shifted to JPMC for an autopsy. Meanwhile, another tortured body of a person aged about 23, was found from D Area, graveyard, Akhtar Colony. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-formalities.

According to rescue sources, five days old tortured body of an unknown woman, aged about 30, was found from Zia Colony, Orangi Town. It was shifted to ASH for medico-illegal formalities. According to police and rescue sources, two accused were busy in mugging near Ding Dong Bubble Company when a patrolling police party reached there. After shootout, the police arrested both accused identified as Rafiq Bengali, 22, son of Shafeeq, and Maqbool Bengali, 25, son of Sabir, in injured condition. The police recovered one TT pistol with rounds and four mobile phones from their possession. Both the accused were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.

In a separate incident, one Zulfiqar, 40, son of Iqbal and Rafiq, 35, were shot and injured by unidentified armed men in MPR Colony. Both the injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH).

According to rescue sources, a youth, Khair Mohammad, 25, son of Ghulam Mohammad, was shot and injured by unknown accused in Baldia Town, Yousuf Goth. He was shifted to CHK for treatment.
