The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notice to the PWD executive engineer on a contempt of court application for flouting court’s order for making payment of outstanding dues for renovation of the Karachi State Guesthouse.
Headed by Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar, a division bench was hearing a contempt of court application filed by a contractor, Riaz Brother, citing the PWD executive engineer Akramul Haq as alleged contemnor.
The applicant’s counsel submitted that the firm had carried out renovation work on the Karachi State Guesthouse but federal authorities had still not made payment of Rs 3.5 million.
He said earlier on May 27 the court had issued directives to the PWD executive engineer for paying outstanding dues within one month. Despite clear directions, the alleged contemnor had failed to comply with the court order. Therefore, he requested the court to initiate contempt proceedings against the alleged contemnor.
