Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO) has issued a notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over non payment of electricity bills of his Islamabad’s Bani Gala residence while Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) has sought an explanation from PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi for having six meters at his Multan residence.
The IESCO notice reportedly gives Khan seven days to pay the bill and warns that in case of non payment, all IESCO installations would be removed. IESCO has issued the notice under Electricity Act 1910.
The PTI chief had earlier announced a civil disobedience movement during a sit-in by his party in Islamabad, telling the people not to pay their utility bills. In line with the announcement, Khan has not paid the bill for his Bani Gala residence.
On the other hand in Multan, MEPCO XEN Mumtaz Ali Akram has issued a notice to Qureshi, seeking explanation in 15 days over having six meters installed at his house in Manzurabad sub-division when only one metre was allowed per house.
Furthermore, XEN has also made it clear that departmental action would be taken against the officials involved in this “irregularity”.
