Non-payment of petrol allowance by the Postal Services Department to the postmen working in the post offices in Rawalpindi since the last one year has irked postmen.
Over 300 postmen are appointed in post offices operating all over Rawalpindi. Postal Services Department provides 2 litres of petrol daily to every postman and likewise delivery agents deployed on the duty of delivering UMS are also entitled to 2 litres petrol daily, 60 litres petrol per month and 720 litres petrol per year.
The Postal Department has not approved the petrol bills of postmen and delivery agents since the last one year and this way they stand deprived of petrol allowance. Non payment of petrol allowance to postmen and delivery agents is causing inordinate delay in delivery of mail.
“Our department has not paid us petrol allowance. We send petrol bills every month but neither the bills are approved nor is petrol allowance paid,” said a group of postmen.
The postmen have appealed to minister for postal services to take notice of non payment of petrol allowance since the last one year and hold inquiry into where the amount allocated for petrol allowance has been spent.
