President Mamnoon Hussain Tuesday lauded the humanitarian services rendered by Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) over the decades in times of natural calamities and any other emergency.
After PRCS Chairman Dr Saeed Elahi briefed the president on the relief efforts of PRCS for Temporarily Displaced Persons (TDPs) of North Waziristan Agency (NWA) in the wake of military operation Zarb-e-Azb and for the people affected from recent floods and torrential rains, the president said that the emerging challenges and increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters in the recent past have further increased the importance of the role of PRCS.
Speaking at the Aiwan-i-Sadr, Mamnoon Hussain underscored the importance of PRCS in sharing the burden of the government in reaching out to the affected. He appreciated the humanitarian services being provided by the PRCS to the affected and assured of all possible support in further strengthening the organization.
Hussain eulogised the commitment of PRCS for reaching out and alleviating the sufferings of the victims of both natural and man-made disasters. He advised PRCS to further equip itself with modern tools and techniques for effectively dealing with emergency situations in the country. He also called upon PRCS to further enhance its capacity and broaden its scope of humanitarian activities to serve the humanity in critical times.
