Federal Minister for Textile Abbas Khan Afridi on Tuesday said the government was taking effective measures to ensure uninterrupted supply of gas and electricity to textile industries.
Addressing the annual meeting of APTMA here at APTMA office, he said that textile sector was a source of employment for a number of people and the government would make arrangements to facilitate them, adding the government would not let the people unemployed.
He said that Bangladesh, India and China had made progress by enhancing their exports, adding that Bangladesh had enhanced its exports from $5 billion to 25 billion while it was need of the hour to increase exports for the development and progress of the country.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar said that the government would fully cooperate with ALL Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) to resolve their issues.
He said the government would not leave no stone unturned in the resolution of issues of the association.
He said the status of Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) plus was a success which was achieved through collective efforts of the government and the APTMA.
The governor said the government was making day and night efforts to overcome energy crisis and to ensure the availability of electricity and gas to the people.
Central Chairman APTMA S.M Tanvir said that they have no affiliations with any political party, adding that sit-ins have damaged the economy of the country and the government should resolve the issue.
He said that exports have decreased due shortage of gas and electricity.
