  • SC summons CDA chairman to explain safety measures adopted for installation of billboards

During the hearing of billboards installation case, a three-member bench of Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday summoned Capital Development Authority (CDA) chairman for today, expressing resentment over inefficiency of government institutions in the case.

“Why don’t the government institutions do their job? Why it is considered that we have to run the government? No problems will surface if the institutions perform their functions,” Justice Jawwad S Khawaja said during the hearing.
As the petitioner sought removal of billboards from general crossing pleading that the billboards installed in the city pose hazards and the problem aggravated when a wind storm or storm strikes, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan inquired if CDA take safety measures while installing billboards.
