The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided not to depend on NADRA for using biometric system and electronic voting during the next elections, a private news channel reported on Tuesday.
Addressing a meeting at ECP, Acting Chief Election Commissioner of Pakistan (CEC) Justice Anwar Zaheer said that storage houses will be made at central and provincial offices of ECP for keeping record of elections.
It was decided in the meeting that ECP will not rely on NADRA for e-voting and biometric system. Machines made by Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and other institutions were also tested during the meeting.
ECP Secretary Ishtiak Ahmed Khan told the meeting that documents for the use of e-voting machines have been handed over to Electoral Reforms Committee but it would take at least two years for the project to be implemented.
