Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Monday decided to move evening classes in morning shift as it is not feasible to run two parallel shifts in Islamabad model schools and colleges.
Chairing a meeting held regarding matter of evening shift in Islamabad model schools and colleges, Minister of State for CADD Barrister Usman Ibrahim said there are a number of problems in evening shift like inadequacy of building/infrastructure, paucity of funds, shortage of teaching and supporting staff, problem of transportation and odd hours.
He said the schools and colleges in which the number of students in evening shifts is less enough to be easily accommodated in morning shifts should be gradually shifted to morning shifts. This would be done in phases as it is not easy to shift and relocate the students immediately, he said.
The minister said the process of shifting has been started as evening shifts students of few schools and colleges including Islamabad Model Postgraduate College (IMPC), Sector H-8 and IMCB Sector H-9 would be shifted in morning shifts after Eidul Azha.
New classrooms would be built in those model schools and colleges where there is enough space available to accommodate evening shifts students, said the minister. He said the underutilised buildings of some schools and colleges would also be used for evening shifts students.
Talking about shortage of teaching and supporting staff, the minister said a recruitment committee would be formed in this regard while the issue of sanction posts would also be discussed.
Moreover, Usman Ibrahim gave directives to the officials to make a PC-I of 100 buses in order to resolve the issue of transportation for the students.
