- Online sale and purchase of sacrificial animals gain momentum in the country
The growing use of online businesses in the country has also started influencing religious events as online sale and purchase of sacrificial animals for Eidul Azha has started attracting customers.
According to sources, pictures, video clips, weight, price and other required information about animals is available on various websites and people are taking keen interest in this new way of business.
“In today’s busy life, it was very difficult to go to market for buying sacrificial animals but now anyone could choose animal of their choice while sitting at home,” a shopkeeper Abdul Mannan said.
“There were so many problems like car-parking and pickpockets in the markets but now we can easily purchase animals for forthcoming religious event,” said Haseeb Ahmed, a customer.
If the banking sector gives us the payment option, the market would groom quickly, said Ehtasham Ali, owner of a social website.
“We can find best animals for sale on line, which gives complete guidelines to the customers in the cities like Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Karachi, Peshawar and Quetta,” he added.
Prices of sacrificial animals particularly goats and lambs were sky-rocketing this year due to devastating floods and most of the people opt to share in the joint sacrifice of calves and cows, he added.
Waseeq Ahmed, an Information Technology (IT) expert said that he has analysed animal sale, through various websites which showed a decline, comparatively last years’ sale.
“The on line sale system has been affected this year as prices have been increased by 25 to 50 percent as compared to the prices of last year as the traditional lambs of Sargodha, Mianwali and other districts have not yet reached to the local cattle market due to flood,” he added.
