*Spokesman informs police to hold open courts to address problems on spot
City police will launch short message service (SMS) service soon to send security alerts to banks managers, important buildings caretakers and others to ensure security measures.
Police spokesman Hammad Raza said that the city police had taken the mass messaging software from a private network to ensure foolproof security in the city. He said that a security message would be sent to bank managers at various timings to ensure security measures during opening, break time and closure of the bank branch.
The spokesman said the message would consist of information about suspicious persons and things, measures to avoid security threats, intelligence reports and others. He added that messages would be sent to organisers of processions, caretakers of buildings and others while these people would also be provided with security information through social media, including Twitter and Facebook.
He said if organisers, managers and others would not act upon provided information, the police would issue them warnings and take action against them.
He said numbers of traders associations, bank managers, important building caretakers, leaders of political parties and others were already available for police so that they could easily be provided with security information.
He said that the police would develop its website and all information regarding security would be available for people. The spokesman said a beat system would be established to ensure law and order, adding that six policemen would be selected from six divisions in the city for beat system while they would be awarded with commendatory certificates on performance. He said police officers would hold open courts at mosques to redress problems and grievances of people and for the accountability of policemen.
Raza said that SPs, DSPs and SHOs would be present in open courts while SPs would issue directions on the spot to resolve issues of people.
