IGP says new recruitments will be made through NTS

The Sindh police have decided to make new recruitments against the announced vacancies through National Testing Service (NTS) for ensure transparency and merit. The SSU wing of police has recently completed the recruitment procedure successfully through NTS.

This was informed by IGP Sindh Ghulam Hyder Jamali to the visiting delegation of National Management College on Sunday.

He said keeping in view the gender responsive policing, women were being encouraged to join police service and in the coming recruitments more than 2,000 women would be inducted.

“Considerable reduction in crime has been observed in the province of Sindh, especially during the last three months (July, August and September). The Sindh police have, in particular, focused against terrorism, target killings, kidnapping for ransom and extortion. During the reported period, 247 criminals have been killed in different police encounters while 1,293 were arrested,” the IGP revealed.

The IGP also shared details of the ongoing targeted operation, (since September 5, 2013) against the criminals in Karachi. Comparing the number of killings before and during targeted operation, he informed the house that the figure of target killings had come down from over 2,342 to around 989 which showed significant reduction (2342-989=1353). “Similarly, cases of extortion had reduced from 1,303 to 1,245 (1,303-1245=58) and cases pertaining to street crimes also showed reduction from 2,196 to around 1,798 (2196-1798=398),” he added.

Jamali further informed the delegation that during the year 2014, the Sindh police had recovered 517 kg of explosive materials from the possession of terrorists in addition to 23 bombs, 459 hand grenades, 16 RPG-7 rockets, 11 suicidal jackets, 4 G-3 rifles, 260 KKs/SMGs and 7,954 pistols/revolvers/shot guns. ”A total number of 2,392 encounters took place in the province so far this year, killing 371 terrorists/kidnappers/dacoits and criminals. Police also arrested 7,435 criminals during the current year,” he added.
