National Highway Authority (NHA) has decided to change the design of the Takht Bhai railway flyover.

An official source informed that in view of social issue raised at the site due to protests of the locals against original design, the NHA has revised the design.

As per original design the length of the bridge was to be 200 metres while now it has been revised to 425 metres. Original cost of the project was 582.12 million but after its revised design it would cost Rs 754.60 million meaning 29.6 pc escalation in the cost.

As per original PC-I the project completion time was 18 months but now it would be revised to 28 months.

It is worth mentioning that Senate Standing Committee, headed by Senator Daud Achakzai had visited the site of proposed Takht Bhai flyover after receiving complaints from the masses.

The committee took a briefing from National Highway Authority (NHA) and held an open meeting in the presence of local people along with legislators from the area.

The committee members said that Takht Bhai flyover was a gateway to 11 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and over 7,000,000 people would benefit from its completion.
