Capital Development Authority (CDA) would plant 0.3 million saplings during the ongoing monsoon tree plantation drive throughout Islamabad.
Member Environment, Syed Mustafain Kazmi said this while addressing the participants of a ceremony held in connection with Monsoon Tree Plantation Drive at IslamabadConventSchool, in sector F-8/4.
He said CDA is utilizing its all available resources to maintain the green character of Islamabad and to further beautify it on modern lines in Cooperation with residents who play a pivotal role in tree plantation drives.
He said on the direction of Chairman CDA Maroof Afzal a comprehensive strategy is being evolved not only for ongoing monsoon tree plantation drive but also for the spring tree plantation drive to ensure maximum participation of different segments of society and the general public.
Kazmi informed in order to make tree plantation drive a success, NGOs, civil society, students and general public is participating enthusiastically in this drive. He said CDA ensures the participation of educational institutions, NGOs, government and semi-government departments and traders in its all tree plantation drives so that new saplings could be planted at each and every corner of the federal capital.
He said the Authority is focusing on planting fruit trees and other indigenous plants which include Chir, Pine, Kachnaar, Amaltaas, Dhraek, Jecoranda, Olive etc. He further informed that CDA has taken measures to ensure protection of the saplings.
