Violence claims another five lives

As many as five persons were killed and seven others injured in separate violence incidents in the city on Saturday.

An accused, aged about 30, was killed in police encounter at Banaraz Flyover, near Abdullah College. The body was shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for an autopsy.

In another incident, unknown person, aged about 30, was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Steel Town, Gulshan-e-Hadeed. The body was shifted to JPMC for medico-formalities.

One Mansoor, 42, son Muzamil, was killed by unidentified persons over the personal dispute near Water Pump. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for medico-legal-formalities.

Police sources said unidentified accused reached Tariq Hotel, shot dead an unknown person, aged about 60, and escaped. The dead body was shifted to ASH for an autopsy. The motive behind the killing was not ascertained.

An unidentified person, aged about 25, was gunned down near Haji Zahoor Chowk, Faqeer Colony, Orangi Town. The body was shifted to ASH for autopsy.

An immersed body of woman, aged about 35, was found from the sea near PNS building, Native Jetty. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-formalities.

An accused Saleem, 25, son of Salman, was shot injured in police encounter near Nursery, Shahrah-e-Faisal. Police officer Ghulam Sarwar of PS Tipu Sultan informed that last night criminal Saleem was engaged in street crime at Sharah-e-Quaideen when police rushed there and an encounter took place. Later, the accused was arrested in injured condition. One TT pistol along with rounds and four purses were recovered from his possession.

Police sources said two persons namely Mujahid, 22, son of Khuda Bux, and Tariq, 30, were shot and injured by unidentified assailants over personal dispute near Manzil Pump at Saleh Mohammad Goth. Both the injured were shifted to JPMC for treatment.

According to ASH sources, Yousuf Ali, 45, son of Ishaq, was brought injured from Bara Board, Pak Colony. He was wounded in firing of unidentified accused.

Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Mukhtiar of PS Site area informed that Yousuf Ali was riding a cycle when a stray bullet hit his thigh.

The medical legal officer (MLO) of Abbasi Shaheed hospital (ASH) reported that a person, Farhan, 40, son of Abdul Sattar, was brought injured from Federal Urdu University, Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Station House Officer (SHO) Aziz Bhatti informed that the above-named victim was in his car when somebody opened fire on him and fled. He was employee of an insurance company, he said.

An unidentified youth, 25, was shot injured by unknown armed men near Nipa Bridge. He was shifted to ASH for treatment. In a cracker attack, two persons were injured in Gulshn-e-Maymar.

According to police sources, two unidentified motorcyclists threw explosive material near a house wherein two persons were injured who were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment while the accused managed to flee.
