Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Saturday lambasted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s address in the United Nations (UN) General Assembly (GA) in which the premier raised the issue of Kashmir and Gaza, saying that the PM raised these issues after spending millions of dollars for his stay in New York whereas the same could also have been raised from home.

“Pakistan is in great debt of the International Monetary Fund,” said Khan, adding that even then the PM chose to live in one of the costliest hotel of New York during his tour to speak at the 69th Annual Session of the UNGA.

Speaking to a private news channel, Khan said that the PTI-led movement seeking Sharif’s resignation has spread to New York as well where people have started raising the slogan, “Go Nawaz Go”.

In response to a question that shouldn’t the issue of Sharif’s resignation have been restricted to Pakistan only as it is a domestic concern and that the Indian media and PTI were the only ones who criticised Sharif’s UN address, Khan highlighted the differences between Sharif’s and Indian PM Narendra Modi’s visit to New York.

“The United States gave Modi a reception on his arrival and he also met US President Barack Obama besides meeting other top US executives.”

He added that 500 million people had voted in the elections held in India which brought Modi to power, adding that nobody objected to the transparency of the Indian electoral process.

“Everyone accepted the Indian elections as free and fair,” said the PTI chief while adding that the polls in Pakistan were so rigged that they cannot be accepted in any democratic country of the world.
