President of the World Bank Jim Yong Kim called on the prime minister on the sidelines of 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Matters related to social and economic development of Pakistan came up for discussion.
The prime minister outlined efforts made by the government in pursuing reform agenda, building national economy, improving social indicators and enhancing regional connectivity.
He appreciated Jim Yong Kim’s leadership in raising the level of World Bank’s contribution to development and growth in Pakistan to unprecedented levels. The prime minister specifically noted World Bank’s support to Dasu Power Project as an important milestone and welcomed World Bank’s participation in the forthcoming Business Opportunities Conference on Diamer Basha Dam.
World Bank’s record disbursement of $ 1.7 billion in one year and approval of country partnership strategy for Pakistan with portfolio of $ 11 billion over four years manifest the potential for development in Pakistan, the prime minister noted.
