The Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) has served show cause notice to Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) Akhtar Buland Rana on a reference sent by the National Assembly (NA) speaker and has sought reply from him within 14 days.
Sources said SJC has become active and it has started working on different references. Proceedings have been initiated against Rana and he had been told to file a written reply to the reference filed against him.
The AGP is alleged to have raised his salary on his own and kept on “demonstrating intransigence in other matters instead of giving any reply to Public Accounts Committee (PAC)”. The committee had given approval for sending reference against him through the NA speaker.
