A bill amounting to Rs 50 million has been issued to Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) by Islamabad Electricity Supply Company (IESCO), giving the WASA officials sleepless nights on how to pay up the bill.
IESCO officials sent the Rs 50 million bill to WASA officials following which it is expected that the salaries of staff would be withheld and supply of water to citizens would be shut off.
Sources said that WASA has received an electricity bill of Rs 50 millions for one month for the offices of WASA, sub offices, residential colony near Rawal Dam, Rawal Dam Water Treatment Plant, 323 tube wells and three water filling stations.
The total earning of WASA is Rs 25 million while the provincial government provides Rs 16 million as subsidy to WASA every month. Even then, WASA still needs Rs 9 million and WASA officials are pondering over a strategy to start billing consumers for water every month instead of after three months.
It has been reported that if WASA pays the bill then it will become difficult for the agency to give salaries to the employees before Eidul Azha.
