Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has reportedly paid the utility bills of his Lahore residence despite giving a call for civil disobedience to his supporters during the party’s sit-in in Islamabad and burning electricity bills, which the cricketer-turned politician claimed were of his Bani Gala residence.
Lahore Electric Supply Corporation (LESCO) officials reportedly said that three bills worth Rs 16,267, Rs 15,232 and Rs 9,336 issued for Khan’s Zaman Park residence have been paid along with the fine and copies of the submitted bills have also been sent to LESCO.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid also confirmed that Khan had cleared his electricity bills.
“The PTI chief tells his supporters not to pay utility bills but he himself has paid his dues. This shows the double standards of Imran Khan,” said the minister.
The PTI had not confirmed or denied the LESCO claim by the time this report was made.
