All Karachi inter-collegiate quiz competition 2014 was held at Defence Authority SKBZ College on Friday. Kamal Azfar, Senior Advocate of Supreme Court of Pakistan, was the chief guest at the function.
The chief guest underlined the significance of the power of knowledge and termed the quiz competitions as the hallmark of a sound education system. He said in the present times, the world was moving from industrial economy to knowledge-based economy and as such knowledge and information plays a pivotal role in success of any venture. He added that general knowledge was a vital part of education as sword was mightier than pen.
Kamal Azfar reiterated that the quiz competitions provided an excellent opportunity to enhance the mental skills of students and played a pivotal role in the development of their all round personality.
Earlier Principal of the College Brig (R) Shahid Saleem stressed upon the students for constant update of knowledge for a successful career in this technological and information age.
Students of the leading colleges of the metropolis participated in the event. The students answered different interesting and intellectually vibrant questions covering a vast panorama of subjects including education, science, Islamic studies, history, sports and current affairs etc.
Shoa-un-Nabi, Senior Advocate Supreme Court, Prof Sajjada Zaheer, Principal Govt Girls Degree College Bufferzone, and Ms Najma Zuberi, Director Beacon House School System, were the judges of the competition.
According to the results, the quiz competition was won by Bahria College Karsaz, while Defence Authority Public School O&A Levels Ph-VIII clinched the second position. Defence Authority Degree College for Men got third position.
At the end, the chief guest gave away the trophies to the winning teams and distributed the certificates among the organisers of the programme.
