CDA to plant 0.3 mln saplings during Monsoon tree plantation drive
The Capital Development Authority (CDA) would plant 0.3 million saplings during the ongoing Monsoon tree plantation drive throughout Islamabad.
Environment Member Syed Mustafain Kazmi expressed these views while addressing the participants of a ceremony held in connection with Monsoon Tree Plantation Drive at IslamabadConventSchool in Sector F-8/4.
He said that CDA is utilising all available resources to maintain the green character of Islamabad and to further beautify it on modern lines in cooperation with residents who play a pivotal role in tree plantation drives.
Addressing the teachers and students, he elaborated the importance of plantation.
He said that on the direction of CDA Chairman Maroof Afzal a comprehensive strategy is being evolved not only for ongoing monsoon tree plantation drive but also for the spring tree plantation drive to ensure maximum participation of different segments of society and the general public in the attempt to make the city greener.
“NGOs, civil society, students and general public are participating enthusiastically in this drive to make it successful,” he said.
He said that CDA ensures the participation of educational institutions, NGOs, government and semi-government departments and traders in its all tree plantation drives so that new saplings could be planted at each and every corner of the Federal Capital.
He said the authority is focusing on planting fruit trees and other indigenous plants including Chir, Pine, Kachnaar, Amaltaas, Dharek, Jecoranda and Olive.
“CDA has taken several measures to ensure the protection of the saplings,” he said.
