Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supporters resorted to intense aerial firing at Abu al-Hassan Ispahani Road in Gulshan-e-Maymar area on Wednesday night following a Rangers raid on the party’s sector office in Scheme 33 where a large number of people were present for a general workers’ convention.
The Rangers took with them as many as 200 MQM workers and party leaders claimed that records of the office were also taken away by the security personnel.
Soon after the raid, a large number of MQM supporters, including women, came out on the road and started protesting against the Rangers. They blocked the road and shouted slogans against the Sindh Rangers for “targeting just the MQM” in the operation against criminal gangs.
The MQM Raabita Committee condemned the raid and demanded immediate release of its workers, which it said were discussing reorganisation in the party.
