*President approves appellate tribunal to dispose appeals against ROs regarding submission of nomination papers for NA-149 by-polls

President Mamnoon Hussain has approved the appointment of Peshawar High Court (PHC) senior judge Justice Yahya Afridi as acting PHC acting chief justice.

The appointment will be effective from September 26 to October 2, 2014.

The appointment was approved on the advice of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over a summary initiated by the Ministry of Law and Justice and Human Rights. The appointment will be effective from Sept 26 to Oct 02, 2014.

The president has also approved the summary recommending four names for members of the Federal Services Tribunal (FST). The tribunal will include former Punjab federal secretary Arshad Bhatti, former Sindh federal secretary Syed Arshad Ali, former Punjab additional secretary Qazi Afaq Hussain, former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district and sessions judge Syed Rafique Hussain Shah.

The president also approved the PM’s advice regarding appointment of three Lahore High Court (LHC) Multan bench judges as an appellate tribunal for the disposal of appeals against the decisions taken by Returning Officers to accept or reject nomination papers filed for by-elections to the National Assembly constituency NA-149 Multan-II.

Justice Shahid Waheed, Justice Shoaib Saeed and Justice Atir Mehmood will be included in the appellate tribunal.
