Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued stay order restraining the provincial governments from harassing employees of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and interfering in its administrative matters.
The court has issued 15-day notices to federation through secretary and chief secretaries Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and AJK and sought report from them.
A single bench of IHC comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi took up PTDC case for hearing Thursday.
Raja Saimul Haq Satti counsel for PTDC appeared in the court and told PTDC is a separate entity and its employees are working in all the four provinces and AJK. This department has its assets as well. PTDC is having different hotels and buildings all over the country.
He argued that provincial governments have started harassing the employees of PTDC following the passage of 18th Amendment of the Constitution and these governments are also taking control of the assets of PTDC.
The learned counsel told the court PTDC has not been handed over to PTDC through 18th Amendment. On the other hand KP government issued ordinance on September, 1, 2014 under which action was started against the employees. PTDC employees come under the control of federal government, therefore, provincial governments be restrained from harassing PTDC employees. Assets of PTDC should also remain with it. A stay order be issued in this regard, he prayed.
