Despite the fall in mercury, the deadly dengue virus continues to spread its wings as nine new cases were reported in two districts of Punjab while several other districts of the province have been declared to be at high risk for the spread of the virus. The total number of dengue cases reported in year 2014 has reached 83.
Punjab Health Department said that nine patients shifted to Mayo Hospital, General Hospital, and Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Hospital Rawalpindi were tested positive for dengue virus.
Three cases surfaced in Rawalpindi and Lahore each, while one case was reported in Potohar Region, Sheikhupura and Ferozwala each.
Punjab Health Department spokesman has said that the provincial government was taking all measures to overcome the spread of dengue virus. He said that Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura and Ferozwala districts have been declared at high risk of dengue attack.
