Wattoo says ECP report casts doubts over govt’s legitimacy

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo has observed that the ECP report has damaged the credibility of the whole electoral process of 2013 elections, adding that the ruling party has lost its legal and moral authority of having mandate of the people. Wattoo observed that the legitimacy of the government was in jeopardy and could only be addressed by seeking the fresh mandate from the electorates.

He said that the reservations raised by the PPP leadership regarding the dubious role of Returning Officers (ROs) in 2013 elections have been confirmed by the Election Commission of Pakistan review report published.

He said that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto would also unfold the extent of rigging in 2013 elections from Karachi to Khyber on October 18, when he would address the party meeting at Karsaz, Karachi.
