IHC issues show cause notices to Interior Secretary, IG Police for not vacating educational institutions

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Tuesday issued show cause notices to Inspector General Police Islamabad and Secretary Interior for not vacating educational institutions of Islamabad that are being used by Punjab Police and other law enforcement agencies summoned to deal with the two sit-ins of PAT and PTI.

During hearing of an application by the PTI against imposition of section 144, Justice Athar Minallah made it clear that the court would not tolerate any hurdle in the education of children. He said the court had ordered on 9th September that the police must vacate the educational institutions within a week but the order has not been implemented.

The IHC judge said the secretary and IG Police Islamabad would have to pay the price of precious time for education of children.

Deputy Commissioner Islamabad told the court that its order was conveyed to IG Police but the schools could not be vacated. He said police personnel were still residing in several schools and colleges.

The court asked the Secretary Interior and IG Police to file their affidavits and also sought replies from PAT and PTI. The hearing was then adjourned till 29thy of September.
