Conspiracy theories had terrorised the FATA and KP population that if the army operation failed, what the possible fate of the local people would be across the province. But, thanks to Gen Raheel Sharif’s decisiveness, the sense of insecurity is now no more as the Armed Forces have successfully destroyed the command and control system of the terrorists, killed more than one thousand terrorists, caught bomb factories and a large quantity of ammunition in many places including Miran Shah and Mir Ali. The number of IDPs rose to nine and a half millions. The Pakistan Army and government agencies are also busy round the clock in taking care of those uprooted from Waziristan.

Though some incidents occurred that could be in reaction to the operation, like that of the attack on Commander FC Brig Javed on September 23, the operation Zarb-e-Azb against the terrorists in North Waziristan continues with success. The main objective of this operation is to completely remove terrorists from Pakistan. The Pakistani nation is hopeful that at last they are going to get free from that monster which had been terrifying them for the last 12 years. According to the latest news, the Army has achieved many successes and is achieving its targets according to the plan.

When the operation started, four basic phases were kept in mind. First phase included the indication of the possible paths and places for the migration and the evacuation of the local, non-military and pro-government population of North Waziristan. Second phase was related to the ground operation and physical search of the area. In the third phase, total rehabilitation and resettlement of the IDPs was considered. The return of the locals and resettlement was included in the fourth phase. The first phase properly started on 15th of June in which millions of locals from Miran Shah and Meer Ali started migrating towards the areas of Bannu, Laki Marwat and Tank. Right after the evacuation, the second phase against the terrorists started in which troops of Pakistan Army destroyed the command and control system of the terrorists in most of the places of North Waziristan.

The Army started the operation in the areas of Bajaur, Sawat and Mohmand. During this, the fighter jets of Pakistan Air Force played an important role in breaking the back of terrorists by bombing their hideouts. These areas were cleared after the ground operation and then the troops progressed towards Miran Shah. This city was central to terrorists in North Waziristan. The crackdown killed numerous terrorists there. Many were arrested and several others surrendered. Now the area of Miran Shah is completely under the government control while Darpa Khel near Afghan Border has also been cleared.
