KARACHI-
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) member Parveen Junejo has denied that she resigned from the seat of Sindh Assembly on her own accord, adding that her husband forced her at gunpoint to sign the resignation letter, Dawn newspaper reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, Ms. Junejo expressed surprise at the approval of her resignation by the Sindh Assembly speaker without getting her verification and accused her estranged husband Aziz Junejo of forcing her to sign a typed resignation letter.
The MPA told journalists that on Septermber 18, her husband called her over at Zardari House in Karachi and then put a gun to her head, forcing her to sign the resignation letter in the presence Faryal Talpur, sister of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and MNA Rafique Jamali.
She also accused her husband of taking money from Tehsil Municipal Officers (TMO) and not letting her visit her constituency.
She has appealed to Mr. Zardari and PPP Patron-in-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to take notice of the incident or else, she added, she would take the matter to court.
Ms. Junejo had won the Sindh Assembly seat from PS-76 (Dadu-III) constituency in May 2013 general elections.
