Islamabad High Court (IHC) has sought voters list of lawyers from Punjab Bar Council (PBC) in connection with Islamabad Bar Council (IBC) election.
Nasir Ahmad Kiani versus Islamabad Chief Commissioner (CC) case came up for hearing before IHC Monday.
Syed Nayab Hussain Gardezi, Mohsin Akhtar Kiani and Sheerin Imran appeared on behalf of the petitioner while Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Hussnain Kazmi and Yusuf Qureshi represented the government.
Petitioner’s counsel told the court that notification of IBC has been issued and Punjab Bar Council has announced the schedule for holding elections. Therefore, court should issued directives to law minister and ministry of law to hold election in Islamabad Bar Council.
The court has sought voters list, rules and regulations and appointment of some responsible officer to hold elections from Punjab Bar Council.
Punjab Bar Council, Ministry of Law and Islamabad chief commissioner have been made respondents in the petition.
The hearing of the case was adjourned till September, 30.
