27 PAT workers handed over to police on physical remand

An anti-terrorism court of Sargodha has handed over 27 workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek to police on two days physical remand.

The PAT workers were arrested on the suspicion of being involved in looting public property and offering resistance against police. According to details, police of Sargodha, Khushab, Minawali and Bakhar presented 61 suspects before Judge of Anti Terrorism Court Akmal Khan amidst strict security. After a short hearing, the court handed over 18 accused from Bakhar, two from Khushab and seven accused of Mianwali to police for two days physical remand and ordered to present all the accused before court on September 25 after remand.

The court also ordered to send the remaining accused to jail on judicial remand after the police shifted the accused to Central Jail Mianwali. Some 26 workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have been released from Sargodha and District Jail Shahpur after the completion of House Arrest duration.

The number of people who have been released reached 90 while there are 66 persons still in both jails. Their sentence will be completed on September 27 after which they will be released.
