According to reports, the two leaders opined that the protest sit-ins in the federal capital should be brought to an end through political dialogue and welcomed the efforts of the opposition jirga in this connection.
They, however, reiterated that the government would not accept any unconstitutional demand of the protestors.
The Punjab CM also briefed the PM about the floods in Punjab and the two leaders discussed details of the government’s relief efforts.
The PM directed the CM to ensure fair and transparent compensation to the flood victims at the earliest.
FEDERAL CABINET TO MEET TODAY:
The federal cabinet will meet at the PM Secretariat today to discuss the political situation, damages by floods, energy crisis and excessive electricity billing.
Official sources said Sunday that Advisor to PM on Water and Power Dr Musaddiq will brief the cabinet about excessive electricity billing over which all sections of the society have been raising hue and cry.
Earlier, PM Sharif had directed Dr Musaddiq to investigate into the matter and present a report.
According to sources, the cabinet will particularly discuss the situation arising out of the two sit-ins of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) in Islamabad and the disclosure of a secret meeting between PAT Chairman Dr Tahirul Qadri and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in London.
Though a couple of federal ministers have asked the leaders of the two protesting parties to explain the objectives of their meeting in London, it is expected that the cabinet would decide to adopt a more aggressive stance against the two leaders to expose them before the people regarding their alleged conspiracies against Pakistan.
In the meanwhile, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) will brief the cabinet about the damages caused by the recent floods and the prime minister is expected to take certain decisions for the rehabilitation of the flood-hit people as the floods have almost crossed Sindh without any notable damage in the province
