In order to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), Rs 2 billion has been reserved for current fiscal year, said Punjab Minister for Excise, Taxation and Finance Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman while addressing the party workers at Multan Road.
Shuja said that four billion rupees have been provided for issuance of health insurance cards under which people having low income would be able to get state-of-the-art healthcare facilities in private medical institutes as well as in public sector hospitals.
He said that Rs 600 million has been reserved for dialysis facilities to the poor kidney patients. He said that huge amount of Rs 8.25 billion would be spent on the provision of free treatment and medicines to the poor and destitute in public sector hospitals of the province. He said that three thousand new job opportunities have been created for nurses in public sector hospitals and the government has initiated the process of recruitment.
Meanwhile addressing the flood affectees, Shuja said that the chief minister is personally visiting flood affected areas to monitor relief activities due to which the problems of the flood affectees were being resolved and relief operation has been accelerated for their early rehabilitation.
He said that the government is providing three time food to 65,919 affectees in 303 relief camps in the affected districts. He said that 299,953 people have been protected through vaccination against viral diseases, whereas process of vaccination was continued in the affected areas.
