  • Says Sharifs acquitted of NAB cases because of collusion with NA Opp leader Khursheed Shah

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday burnt his electricity bills on top of his container as his party’s supporters observed ‘Go Nawaz Go’ day to mark 36 days of the PTI’s antigovernment protest.

Addressing his supporters, Khan said that the government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would continue to face difficulties unless he submits to the protesters’ demands and resigns from office. He said that the government was making false claims that it had accepted all demands made by the PTI.

“The Sharif brothers were acquitted from the money laundering reference by a NAB court because Nawaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Khursheed Shah had appointed their own NAB chairman. Shah will also be acquitted from the two references registered against him by NAB,” he claimed, adding that PTI would reopen the cases when it comes into power to bring the “corrupt people to justice”.

The PTI chief also vowed to bring the $200 billion stashed in Swiss banks back to Pakistan.

Setting alight his electricity bills, Khan said the power tariff was increased by 80 per cent in just one year and demanded Sharif to explain why the government had not prevented electricity theft instead of increasing the cost of electricity.

“Why should a common citizen pay additional amount to overcome the losses due power thefts,” he said.
