Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has expressed surprise at the recommendations floated by a political jirga which he maintained was “formed only to facilitate talks rather than to give recommendations to end the political standoff between the government and anti-government protesting parties”.
The jirga headed by Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Sirajul Haq had suggested that the PM commit on the floor of the House that he would resign if the proposed judicial commission found evidence of rigging in the 2013 General Elections.
A private television channel reported Saturday that the PM said in a meeting of parliamentary parties that he was astonished at the jirga’s recommendations to end the political standoff between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).
The PM reportedly said that the jirga should have at least talked to the government if it wanted to spell out its proposals in front of the media.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party stalwart and former interior minister Rehman Malik has maintained that the jirga’s recommendations were sent to all three stakeholders.
The jirga has said time and again announced that it is working on a plan, which if implemented, will benefit all the parties.
Information Minister Pervaiz Rasheed has denied that the jirga was assigned any task, adding that the jirga has made recommendations off its own accord.
If allegations prove to be true with PML-N involvement then definitely yes the PM should resign
Go Nawaz Go, ECL Exit Control List must be ready for political Bandits of PPP & Nawaz Leagues, Ir Pakistan's faithful Compatriots Pakistanis are calling for HELP please be ready No Bandit Must Get Out Of Ir Pakistan's Territory, Go Nawaz Go
NS / PML N further exposed…if these politicians think they will deflate the will of the people of dharna, they are living in fool`s paradise. Such tactics will further embolden them & make them more resilient.
All this could have been avoided if there was a written agreed reference. Whether the findings would be binding or not? The Govt. seems to be running around like a headless chicken. One does not abdicate one's responsibility but acts on it. Imran is not the problem it is the other way around.
Why should Nawaz Sharif resign he has enough Mush Lotas with him & PMLn parliamentarians are impotent or potted plants at best.
All the Sharif family should answer where Salman Shahbaz Sharif got deposit money for the 10.5 Billion Rs power plant & what are the contract terms & conditions with the Chinese.
How much taxes these people pay
