Sharifs acquitted in money laundering case

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other members of Sharif family on Friday were acquitted of all charges pertaining to a money laundering and illegal asset ownership by an accountability court in a reference filed in year 2000, a private news channel reported.

The references, remained pending in the court for 14 years, and accused the Sharif family of misusing authority and accumulating wealth beyond their means.

During the hearing at National Accountability Bureau (NAB) court today, Judge Anwar Ahmed cleared the Sharifs of all charges pertaining to Raiwind Palace, Hudaibiya Paper Mill and ownership of illegal assets by  terming them ‘politically motivated’.

Another reference accusing the Sharifs of defaulting a bank loan regarding Ittefaq Foundry awaits a court decision till October 2nd, 2014.

PM Sharif’s wife Kulsoom Nawaz, Daughter Maryam Nawaz,, Son Hussain Nawaz, Brother Abbas Sharif and nephew Hamza Shehbaz had also been accused in the references along with the PM and CM Punjab.

  1. May ALLAH Subhanahu Tala be Merciful on this Country and its justice system, Don't those are made judges have no fear of their Lord . Or greed and corruption have turned them blind!

  2. I can personally vouch for the fact that NAB is the most corrupt Org in Pakistan. Power corrupts, and absolute Power corrupts absolutely. This news was expected.
