Jamaat-e-Islami, a coalition partner in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, on Friday threatened to quit the provincial government led by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) if their demands about inclusion of the chapters pertaining to ideology of Pakistan and Islamic education in syllabus were not accepted.

“Our negotiations with the PTI are in progress against changes in the education syllabus and if it were not accepted in the next meeting due on September 24, then we will not compromise on our stance and will not hesitate in leaving the government,” JI KP chief Professor Muhammad Ibrahim said while addressing a press conference.

The JI KP chief said the PAT and PTI should abandon their ego and stubborn attitude and should sit on the negotiation table in the larger interest of the nation and country. Both sides should show some kind of flexibility, he said, adding that the country was bearing the brunt of prolonged political crises.
