Fomma setting up donated artworks’ collection

The Fomma Trust is happy to announce plans for setting up early next year in Karachi a modest “Permanent Collection” of donated works by Pakistani artists.

The initiative for this came last year from the eminent Pakistani artist, currently based in the UK, Jamil Naqsh, gifting 106 of his calligraphic paintings to the Fomma Trust to form part of such a “Permanent Collection”.

The two exhibition/documentation areas presently available to the Fomma Trust – in Zamzama Park and Race Course Garden – being already committed to ongoing projects, the Fomma Trust has been on the look-out for a suitable space to house the initial JN gift as well as any additional such gifts to be received in future for the proposed “Permanent Collection”.

Meanwhile, thanks to some modest initial corporate sponsorship support, it has been possible to start work on a catalogue reproducing all the 106 works gifted by Jamil Naqsh.

Additional sponsorship funding is being sought to organize an exhibition of these works, hopefully sometime later this year.
