Capital Development Authority (CDA) Monday started construction of Service Road-East in Sector E-12 after taking possession of 1,300 kanals of land.
The CDA had launched Sector E-12 about 25 year ago, but the development work could not be started due to possession issue between the affected people and the CDA.
A CDA official said that the authority had now taken possession of land from the affected people of Sector E-12 through an agreement. He described it as a breakthrough for development work in Sector E-12. The CDA would start construction of other service roads in the same sector on completion of Service Road East, he added.
The CDA had given a contract for construction work on the service road last year, but the project could not be started due to possession issue.
According to the agreement the affected people are now giving possession of the land in phases.
The CDA has so far allotted about 300 plots to the affected people in Sector I-12 to provide them alternative piece of land.
