A day after Deepika Padukone lashed out at a leading daily for commenting on her dressing at a public event, many actors and actresses came out in support of the dimpled actress. From calling the ‘entertainment media’ cheap to referring to this incident as an example of ‘wanton hypocrisy’, the celebrities were all in for saving the dignity of womanhood.
As soon as Deepika Padukone showed her anger on the social media, not only fans but her celeb friends too began registering their anger in the form of tweets to the actress. Her rumored beau Ranveer Singh, Finding Fanny co-star Arjun Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Aditi Rao Hydari, Ayushmann Khurrana, DiaMirza, Karan Johar and others expressed their disappointment at the series of events.

September 14 evening also saw a deluge of tweets containing the hashtag #IStandWithDeepikaPadukone. The hashtag trended for a couple of hours nationwide, wherein people showed their support for Deepika for standing up against lewd remarks passed by a certain section of media about women. Deepika Padukone’s earlier tweets to the news portal have garnered almost 6600 retweets in 21 hours. The war doesn’t seem to end here as the tweets and the backlash continue to pour in.
