PPP’s fall from grace

This is with reference to letter titled “PPP’s delusion” and statements by Qamar Zaman Kaira, Aitzaz Ahsan etc who are either living in denial or fail to understand that their party’s performance is responsible for their dismal performance in 2013 polls and not the alleged large scale rigging for their wipeout in Punjab, KP and even Balochistan.

In 2012 the worst factory disaster took place killing over 250 labourers in Karachi’s Baldia Town and even after two years almost 95 percent have not received any compensation, what to talk of punishment for this culpable homicide. Do they recall even one major financial scam during ZAB tenure, or any acceptance of a palatial gift by land mafia don of that era to him or his heirs, or something akin to an LPG quota? There was not even a semblance of being discreet during five years from 2008 to 2013. Yes, their party leaders completed five-year tenure after compromising with the Umpire and they were lucky to have a man with the weakness for amassing assets in Australia and his extended family involved in construction, kickback contracts etc.

Is there any comparison with ZAB’s choice of Rafique Saigol or Nur Khan to head PIA and corrupt to core high school dropout cronies who have wrecked national airline from 2008 onwards and manner in which poor aged labourer beneficiaries were robbed of their savings and pensions in EOBI. The PPP should thank God that instead of political opponents like Nawabzada Nasrullah, they have to deal with political pygmies whose rank and file are dominated by tax evading traders, contractors and land grabbers. Their political future is wedded to a complete reshape and shuffling of their leadership with men or women of credibility and honour, instead of the present lot which is hostage to greed.
