At least four people, including a policeman, two brothers of a policeman and an Aman Committee volunteer, were killed in separate incidents in Hangu, Swat and Dera Ismail (DI) Khan on Monday.
According to security sources, more than six militants, including a suicide bomber, attacked Tal Police Station in District Hangu. Upon interception and firing by the police, the suicide bomber blew himself up which partially destroyed the police station while killing one policeman and injured two others. The militants managed to flee.
Security forces have imposed a curfew and launched a search operation and arrested at least 40 suspects.
In a separate incident, some unidentified militants attacked the house of police officer Inspector Saifur Rehman in Dera Ismail Khan and killed his two brothers. Rehman was not home when the assault occurred.
Police sources said Rehman’s brothers were killed in revenge for an operation launched against militants on Sunday in which one militant was killed and another was injured.
No militant group has claimed responsibility for the attacks yet.
Meanwhile, Swat Aman Committee member Zahir Shah was gunned down in Tehsil Kabal.
