Bilawal to contest 2018 polls from Bhutto’s home constituency

*Says politics of sit-ins should end in wake of floods and Operation Zarb-e-Azb

*Sindh CM announces Rs 100 million aid for flood victims of Punjab

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced Monday that he would contest the 2018 General Elections (GE) NA-207 Larkana-Ratodero, which had been the ‘home constituency’ of his late mother and former prime minister Benazir Bhutto.

In 2013 GE, PPP Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari’s sister Faryal Talpur contested from the seat.

Addressing a news conference at his residence in Karachi, Bilawal said, “I will begin parliamentary politics from my family seat in the 2018 elections,” adding that he would not contest bye-elections.

Accompanied by Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, PPP Punjab President Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo and Sherry Rehman, Bilawal rebuked the sit-ins in Islamabad.

“Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) are protesting against the government at a time when the country is hit by severe floods.”

“Politics of sit-ins should come to an end and we should all support the flood victims and those displaced due to ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan,” he said.

He welcomed Punjabi Talban’s statement to give up arms and violence but added that the government should not stop action against those who have killed innocent people and army personnel.

“Terrorists should face the law,” he said.

He rejected that there was any Taliban faction in Sindh.

Rebuffing calls for the division of Sindh, he said that PPP would foil any such move.

He appealed to the government to ensure the speedy recovery of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son Ali Haider.

He said that dictatorships were in fact covert attacks on the survival of a Pakistan which is fully devoted to follow its founder’s mission and shine in future as a model democratic Muslim nation.

Meanwhile, the Sindh CM announced Rs100 million as aid for the flood victims in Punjab.

Other PPP leaders also announced Rs100 million and fifty trucks of essential items as aid for the flood vicitms of Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
