Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) co-ordination committee on Saturday strongly protested the arrest of its recovery committee for missing persons’ incharge Dr Babar Anis.
The committee members condemned the arrest in strong words and expressed fear that Anis had been picked by the law enforcement agencies like many other MQM workers.
The statement issued on Friday said that Dr Anees and Wasi Ahmed were arrested by plain clothes policemen from their houses in Federal B Area and their whereabouts were still not known. Some 13 more MQM workers had been arrested from FB Area, North Nazimabad, Korangi and Lyari areas.
They said that armed terrorists had killed scores of MQM workers with impunity as no killer had been arrested. The committee further asked the government to release arrested party workers at the earliest.
