Presence of Islamabad District Court and ICT Offices in F-8 Markaz poses serious security threats to the lives of judges and lawyers and has also become a cause of great inconvenience for the residents and traders of the area, said ICCI Court Shifting Committee Chairman Muhammad Ejaz Abbasi while presiding over the first meeting of the committee.

Abbasi recommended that the government should make necessary arrangements for urgent shifting of district courts and ICT offices from this commercial centre to save the lives of judges, advocates, residents and traders from troubles.

ICCI Senior Vice President Khalid Mehmood Chaudhry, former FPCCI and ICCI President Zubair Ahmed Malik, ICCI Senior Member Khalid Iqbal Malik and ICCI Vice Chairman Naeemur Rehman Piracha attended the meeting.

Abbasi said already three serious incidents had occurred in F-8 Markaz in which many precious lives were lost and business activities were badly hit and it was high time that the courts should be shifted from this business centre to avoid any further such incidents.

Abbasi appreciated the government’s initiative for shifting the offices of ICT chief commissioner and deputy commissioner from F-8 to G-11/4 and emphasised that the district courts and the remaining ICT offices should also be moved to a safer place where general public should have easy access for getting relief of their problems.

The participants of the meeting said that the construction of Islamabad High Court (IHC) building is pending since long despite the fact that the PC-1 of the project has already been approved. They appealed to the Ministry of Law and Justice and the CDA to allocate necessary funds for early completion of IHC building so that the IHC could be shifted to its new building. They were of the view that the shifting of IHC would also facilitate the shifting of District Court and ICT Office from F-8 Markaz.

They said apart from courts, many schools and offices have also been setup in this important business centre which have created unnecessary rush in the area due to which residents are facing great problems. They said this situation has also created parking problems in the area due to which people are facing problems in parking their vehicles. They said the local administration should look into all these problems and take necessary measures to address them in order to remove the concerns of residents.
