Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has appealed to the government to release all innocent workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) immediately as a gesture of goodwill.
He said the efforts should be made to resolve issues through mutual understanding.
In an interview, Hussain praised the government for showing patience and restraint in handling the situation but added that the government should take recourse to patience a little more and release all workers.
Hussain appealed to the PAT and PTI leaders to restart the process of dialogues and try to resolve issues in a manner that may be acceptable to the government and all other stakeholders.
Hussain said the government was within its right to use the law for maintaining law and order but the situation demands that the law was not misused. The government should move gently in order to ease the situation.
Speaking about the devastation caused by floods, Hussain said that Punjab and Kashmir were hit hard by floods and hundreds of thousands of people had been displaced. He extended sympathies to the flood victims who lost everything in floods. He prayed to Almighty Allah to end the hardships being faced by the people.
Hussain said the people affected by floods and heavy rains needed their attention. He appealed to the PAT and PAT workers to put off their sit-ins for the time being in order to help the people affected by floods.
